About Me

It’s never been enough for me to know how to do something in the garden. I’ve always wanted to know why. And asking why usually gives me better understanding of why I garden, what kind of garden I want to create, and the plants I want to grow.

But sometimes it opens a can of worms…

·       many gardening products over-inflate their promises
·       Some gardening information is bogus
·       Plant tags should come with a warning…
“may not appear the same as the seductive photo.”

My garden is a place where I experiment with different plants, materials, plant products and garden styles. Every time I’ve moved, I’ve always found the time and place to garden — whether it was a couple of pots or an entire backyard. Gardening grounds me. It’s a place where I relax and find the answers to all my questions.

With the risk of sounding sanctimonious, I believe that gardening and gardens give back so much to humanity, but society on the whole, is not always aware how beneficial gardens are.

So, I decided to start this website to inform, enlighten, encourage and hopefully amuse you as you merrily pick your way through the gardening maze.

With 25 years experience in gardening, a BSc and MSc in horticulture, a residential garden design certificate and scores of trials, errors and triumphs under my belt, I’m up for the challenge…
