Inspirational Planters at Canada Blooms 2014

Flower shows are usually full of inspiration. Canada Blooms 2014 was no exception. For soil-oriented gardeners like me, containers caught my eye: log planters, vertical wall planters and picture frame planters.

Inspirational Planters

Log Planters

I love recycling/upcycling ideas.  This year is was use of logs as planters. I suspect the dominance of log-related merchandise is direct result of all the ice storm damaged trees!

Cute planter. Succulents and logs make a good combo. Use well-draining soilless media.  Part of Kawayan (bamboo) Tropics display designed by Jacob’s Gardenscape.

Vertical Wall Planters

Vertical gardening is super trendy right now. Found lots of ideas of how to expand your gardening square footage by going up!

Inserting planters into stone walls extends an old idea: planting in freestanding stonewalls.

But you don’t have to have to have a stone wall to have a vertical garden. GroNomics has developed a freestanding unit!

Picture Frame Planters

Picture frames have gone to whole new level! Create living art with real live plants.

The whole wall can be art! A living wall is the star-attraction at Jacob’s Gardenscape‘s tropical balcony/terrace design.
